Nutritional Breakdown – What’s in a Bottle of Naked Juice?

To better examine if Naked juices are healthy, let’s take a look at the kind of drinks they offer:

The Cold-Pressed Naked Juices have lower sugar content than the other drinks on this list, with 1.9 grams/oz or 23 grams of sugar in total for the Cold-Pressed Bright Greens.

These Cold-Pressed juices are made using a hydraulic press instead of an auger or juicer.

The list of products include:

  • Half-Naked Lively Green smoothie, which contains 26 grams of sugar

Potential Benefits

Naked Juices pack several potential benefits, including providing your daily antioxidant needs, provided you consume them in moderation. Fruits and vegetables are known to contain antioxidants that help safeguard your body against chronic diseases.

Further, these antioxidants also offer protection against damage caused by free radicals, which are unstable molecules that cause oxidative stress.

Naked Juices are also packed with essential nutrients, including:

Vitamin A

Both types of vitamin A (retinoids that come from animal products and beta-carotene sourced from plants and found in Naked Juices) lower the risk of breast cancer and blurred or reduced central vision, known as macular degeneration.

Vitamin C

Apart from being essential during flu and cold season, vitamin C plays an integral part in increasing the effectiveness of your white blood cells, thus helping boost your immune system.

Vitamin C also reduces the risk of heart diseases while helping maintain low blood pressure.

Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 is an essential nutrient your body needs for specific functions but doesn’t occur naturally in any bodily system, which is why it needs to be supplied by outside sources.

Some of the benefits that vitamin b6 provide include the following:

  • reduces your risk of developing Alzheimer’s Disease and heart diseases
  • helps in the prevention and treatment of anemia
  • assists in elevating your mood

Downsides of Drinking Naked Juice

Low in Fiber

Most fruit and vegetable juices, Naked Juice included,  have their fiber removed during juicing.

Fiber plays a key role in promoting feelings of fullness necessary in weight management and regulating your food intake and appetite. It’s also a vital component linked to a reduced risk of type-2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and heart disease.

Due to their lack of sufficient fiber content, fruit and vegetable juices may contribute to heightened insulin and blood sugar levels.

Excessive Sugar Content

You should keep in mind that even 100% fruit and vegetable juices still provide excessive amounts of sugar since they pack multiple servings of each, although in drinking form.

For instance, a 450-ml of Naked Juice is made from the following ingredients:

  • 11 strawberries
  • 2 apples
  • half banana
  •  ⅔ of an orange
  • 13 raspberries
  • ¼ of a pomegranate
  • 7 grapes
  • 3 cranberries

Excessive sugar in your diet is associated with an increased risk of heart disease, obesity, and type-2 diabetes. Instead of drinking fruit and vegetable juices, you can eat whole fruits and vegetables to reduce these risks significantly.

Weight Gain

Since Naked Juices are 100% fruit and vegetable juice, their sugar content is mostly fructose, which can contribute to weight gain. The results of scientific studies show that consuming too much fructose lowers your fat metabolism and calorie spending.

Liquid calories found in fruit juices are also less likely to make you feel full, unlike calories from food, leading to a higher calorie intake.

Bottomline – Is Naked Juice Healthy?

Back to the original question, is Naked Juice healthy

Overall, Naked Juices are healthy, but only when taken in moderation. Its high calorie and sugar content are harmful to your health when:

  • consumed in high doses
  • if you already have large quantities of sugar in your diet
  • If you’re trying to lose weight

If you’re having difficulty adding fruits and vegetables to your diet, a juice or smoothie helps you get those nutrients that you might be missing from your current diet.

Finally, you should pay attention to the nutritional information of your favorite Naked Juices, specifically their sugar and calorie content, to know what you’re putting in your body whenever you drink one of them.

The Half-Naked smoothies and Cold-Pressed varieties are healthier options but should still be consumed in moderate quantities.
