Low-impact exercises not only stretch you out and increase your flexibility; it also reduces your risk of injury. Plus, it’s a great way to keep your mental health in check! And it allows you to physically do more within a single session.

So before 2021 ends, you might as well try a few of these activities. At the very least, these exercises will help you shed a few pounds right before your dinner on New Year’s Eve. Let’s dive in!

Walking

Walking is the easiest way to burn a few calories per day. In fact, it has been proven that taking a brisk walk for around 30 minutes a day can help you shed up to 150 calories. And the more steps you complete (not to mention the quicker your pace), the more calories you’ll lose.

So make a point of taking a walk once a day during the last days of 2021. If you can, try taking a hike in inclined areas or hills. This will increase your calorie burn, thus making you readier for your New Year’s Eve dinner.

Cycling

In case you have a bicycle lying around in your home, you can take it out instead. It can certainly help you work out most of your major muscle groups in one go. By completing two to four hours’ worth of cycling per week, you’ll eventually get your body back in shape.

Of course, with 2022 looming barely more than a week away, you won’t be able to enjoy the long-term benefits of cycling before the year is up. Still, it will shed some pounds and prep up your appetite for your upcoming dinner.

Rollerblading

But if you want to go old school on your low-impact exercises, you should try rollerblading. In case you don’t know what that is, rollerblades are a type of inline skates that was popular during the late 80’s and much of the 90’s. Anyway, it’s one of the most time-efficient ways to burn calories before New Year’s Eve. According to Livestrong, a 155-pound person can burn up to 20 calories just by spending 30 minutes rollerblading.

If you want to try something that the neighborhood hasn’t seen in a while, go rollerblading across your block. Of course, bear in mind that this sport is not for everyone, and it comes with a few risks. So for your own sake, wear the right gears before donning the skates.

Yoga

Yoga helps you build a better connection with your mind and body. But you probably might not be aware that it can help you burn calories, too. In fact, if you’re already physically active, doing yoga twice or thrice a week alongside some 10-minute stretches will speed up your body’s ability to lose weight.

If you’re the type of person who likes spending the last days of a year holed up in their home, then yoga is the perfect low-impact exercise for you. Aside from yoga’s ability to stretch you out, it will also increase your mindfulness, thus allowing you to kick off 2022 with a better mindset.

Pilates

Unlike the other low-impact exercises on this list, Pilates won’t help you lose weight by directly targeting your excess fat. Instead, it will work on your muscles, conditioning it so it can burn calories more efficiently the next time you work out. The best thing about this exercise is that it will stretch you out regardless of your age, gender, and current body mass.

Still, bear in mind that Pilates is not a good option if you want to lose weight fast. That means you have to give it time to work its miracle on you. If you want quick results, then better try other exercises.

Ellipticals

Investing in elliptical machines like the Sunny Health & Fitness SF-E905 can bring tons of benefits. For one thing, it’s a great way to improve your cardio and boost your stamina. Ellipticals can also give you a full body workout within a single session. But more importantly, it will help you burn fat fast.

So if you want to spend the rest of 2021 home, then best whip out your best elliptical machine to shed some weight and stay fit. To stay longer in the machine, you need to set it up in front of your television. That way, you can watch your favorite shows on Netflix as you workout.

TRX

TRX bands can provide you with that total body toning you’ve been missing, as well as allow you to work on your core and abdominal muscles. Plus, it’s pretty easy to use. Just slip your hands and feet through its loops and you’re ready to go.

So set aside a few hours in your day for your TRX session. Make sure you set it up in sturdy areas. That way, you won’t end up slipping and falling in the middle of your exercise. Some of the top TRX exercises you can try out include atomic push ups, planks, jump squats, and chest press, among many others.

Golf

The last days of 2021 is a great time to get some fresh air. To make sure you shed some pounds and enjoy beautiful sceneries, too, you might as well play golf in the week leading to New Year’s Eve.

Since you’re going to spend most of your time walking while golfing, you’ll end up burning a lot of calories. As mentioned above, you can burn up to 150 calories by walking for around 30 minutes. By playing golf, you’ll end up losing up to four times more.

Rock Climbing

Lastly, you can try rock climbing days before New Year’s Eve. If there’s a rock climbing venue near you, you might as well drop by for a few rounds.

By spending a few hours a day rock climbing, you’ll end up working both your upper and lower body. As an added bonus, it’s a great place to take a nice selfie as you stretch yourself out. Just make sure you wear the right gear while doing this sport (safety first).

Let These Exercise Stretch You Out

Doing some low-impact exercises before 2021 ends is a great way to stretch you out and jumpstart your new workout routine for 2022 (assuming you include it on your resolution). But more importantly, it’s the easiest way to lose a few pounds before your New year’s Eve dinner. So better start trying the activities above.
